Engine
Even if you stick with the base engine, the Ford Ranger offers plenty of power. The Ranger has a standard turbo four-cylinder engine with a power output of 270 horsepower. This engine produces 310 pound-feet of torque and comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission. A stronger V6 turbo engine is available that increases the Ranger's power output to 315 horsepower and increases torque to 400 pound-feet.
Performance
The Ford Ranger is available with either four-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive on most trim levels. The Raptor has standard four-wheel drive. You can get more off-road components for the Raptor with an FX4 off-road package if you get four-wheel drive. This package features an off-road suspension, underbody skid plates, terrain-based drive modes, an electronic locking rear differential, and Trail Turn Assist. The Raptor has more off-road driving modes, cruise control, and standard four-wheel drive. The Ranger has a maximum towing capacity of 7,500 pounds.
Interior
The Ford Ranger has a comfortable interior with plenty of outward visibility. The Ranger also has enough legroom for adults to sit in the back row. The Ranger's front seats are just as comfortable, and the steering wheel and driver's seat have plenty of adjustment capabilities to ensure drivers of all sizes can drive comfortably. Starting with the Lariat trim, you'll get additional luxury features that make driving more pleasant and relaxing. Leather upholstery is standard starting with the Lariat, with a heated steering wheel and front seats. Both front seats are power-adjustable in the Lariat. Bucket-style front seats are an addition to the Raptor to match its sportier look and feel. The front seats also have more bolstering to make rides more comfortable.
Tech
With its tech-savvy cabin, the Ford Ranger proves it's much more than a bare-bones work truck. The Ranger includes all the modern technology you'd expect in a passenger car, such as standard Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The infotainment system is also user-friendly and responds to voice controls. The standard infotainment system has a 10-inch screen for optimal visibility. Cloud-based navigation is added, starting with the second trim, which has a wireless charging pad. The base sound system includes a six-speaker stereo, and starting with the Lariat, the Ranger upgrades to a larger 12-inch infotainment display and a Bang & Olufsen sound system with ten speakers. Along with adding more interior technology, the Lariat adds a power-sliding rear window to easily access items in the back. The XLT trim level and up also have a 120V household-style charging outlet.
Safety
All trim levels of the Ford Ranger have some standard safety technology. The base Ranger has lane departure warning and forward collision warning. Automatic emergency braking is another standard advanced safety aid. Starting with the XLT, the Ranger also adds rear parking sensors, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot warning, and a digital rearview mirror to see out the back. The Lariat adds an automated parking system, front parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, and a 360-degree camera. LED lights are included in the truck bed for visibility with the XLT and up.
