Design and Space
The Ford Escape is smaller in every exterior
measurement (height, length, width), but some around Chester prefer that if
they have to navigate in tighter quarters. However, even with that size
difference, the Escape isn't far behind the Edge in terms of cabin space as it
has a 34-cubic foot cargo space, the Edge has 39.2 cubic feet, and a max cargo
capacity of 68 cubic feet, the Edge is at 73.4 cubic feet. Beyond that, the
Ford Edge holds advantages in rear legroom, 40.6 inches, and has a wider back
seat, so if you regularly drive with a full car, then the Ford Edge may be the
way to go.
Performance
The Ford Edge is clearly the more
performance-focused of the two SUVs, but the Escape isn't a slouch in this
regard. The Edge comes standard with a 250-horsepower 2.0-liter Twin-Scroll
EcoBoost® four-cylinder engine that is also the most powerful engine
option for the Escape. However, the Edge offers a V6 engine with its ST trim
from the Ford Performance team that captivates any around Havertown with 335
horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. Need power for a different job? Both
of these models top out at 3,500 pounds of towing.
