The Remote Start feature available on select Ford models allows you to start your vehicle from up to 325 feet away to ensure it is comfortable prior to you entering it. To learn how, please follow the steps provided by our Springfield Ford dealer near Broomall and Glenolden below.

To remote start your vehicle:

Step 1: Press the Lock button on your key fob to lock all the doors.

Step 2: Press the Remote Start button (2X) twice. Steps must be done within 3 seconds.

  • The exterior lamps will flash twice and the vehicle will start.
  • For some vehicles, a light on your remote will let you know whether or not your car started.
  • The horn will sound if the system fails to start unless quiet start is on. Quiet start runs the blower fan at a slower speed to reduce noise. You can switch it on or off in the information display.
  • The power windows will not work during the remote start and the radio will not turn on automatically.
  • The parking lamps will remain on and the vehicle will run for 5, 10, or 15 minutes, depending on the setting.

Step 3: To drive your car if it's been started remotely, with the car already running, just press the brake and push the engine start-stop button or turn the key and you're ready to drive.

Notes:

  • Only use Remote Start when your vehicle is outside in a well-ventilated area.
  • You can disable or enable the Remote Start system through the information display.
  • Check your local and state laws for any restrictions on Remote Start systems.

When Should I Use My Vehicle's Remote-Start System?

The remote start feature is especially nice for the warmer summer months when you want to cool off your vehicle prior to entering it, or for the winter, when temperatures are hovering around freezing and you're looking to step into a comfortable climate. In fact, if your Ford vehicle has automatic climate control, it will actually gauge the temperature inside the car and adjust it to a comfortable setting. This means that on colder days, your heated seats, heated steering wheel, and defrost feature will turn on, while your air conditioning and ventilated seats will turn on when it's warm out.

You can also control how long your car runs by using your vehicle's touchscreen:

Step 1: Select Settings > Vehicle > Remote Start Setup

Step 2: Make sure "Activate Remote Start" is turned on, then touch "Duration" to program your engine to run in 5, 10, or 15-minute intervals. Note: If you want some extra runtime, you can repeat the remote start process to extend it.
